National Chemistry Week, October 19-25

National Chemistry Weeks is an annual celebration by the American Chemical Society to bring a positive change in the public's impression of chemistry. This week long event promotes a wide range of chemistry-related activities, particularly for elementary and secondary school children. The theme chosen for 2008 is "Having a Ball with Chemistry."

Science NetLinks has created a new resource page to help educators take part in this exciting
event. Here you will find a collection of chemistry lessons, tools, websites, podcasts, and online interactives.

Ever wonder how dryer sheets reduce static cling? Check out this Science Update about static electricity and your laundry. In this lesson about melting and freezing students explore what happens to substances as they change from liquids to solids or solids to liquids. A science mystery needs to be solved in this tool about food poisoning. Students take on the role of medical investigators as they try and crack the case.
